First commercially produced microprocessor

The Intel 4004 was the first commercially produced microprocessor.
After approximately a decade of experimenting with metal oxide silicon chips, the first chips finally went into production.

These 4-bit chips were used mainly in calculators and minicomputers.
(Note: in the early 70ies a minicomputer meant that the computer was about the size of a jukebox instead of a king-sized wardrobe.)
