LED Light Day

The date for LED Light Day was chosen to celebrate the inventors of the high-brightness blue LED light.
This development was a big breakthrough in making LED lights that could actually be used as energy efficient light sources.
Before this development LEDs only emitted low light, mostly in red colors, and thus were mostly used for displays and indicators.
On October 7 in 2014 the three researchers Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura were awarded with the Nobel Prize in physics.

Led Light Day as a celebration was created by Bridgelux in May 2016
