George Washington was fairly fond of pecan nuts, snacking on them regularly.
Thomas Jefferson had pecan trees left from his considerable plantation and gifted some to Washington who happily planted them on his estate on March 25, 1775 and placed a golden plaque commemorating this event.
This was so touching for people who loved US presidents and pecan nuts that this day is now an annual event.
