On August 23, 1977, the first human powered flight was done over a long distance.
For as far as history as recorded that is…
Many attempts have been made to make aircrafts that could lift off, fly long distances and land safely all by mere human power.
Flying an aircraft takes a lot of energy and all the right building techniques. Which for air travel proved to be a challenge.
The Gossamer Condor 2, built by Dr Paul B. MacCready and piloted by hang-glider pilot Bryan Allen, flew the first figure-eight and a distance of 2.172 km, winning the first Kremer prize.
