To save on labor time and costs, the US bans pre-sliced bread

In 1943, the US ran into problems with resources and laborers being consumed in the fight that was WW2 and decided to cut costs with an actual official ban on selling pre-sliced bread!

This led to many customer complaints because sliced bread has a well earned reputation to be one of the best things since….itself.
