The separation of  Germany in a West and East Germany began originally as a safety measure to end the second World War for good. But in the following years this border would turn into a gloomy political wall and eventually a physical wall preventing anyone from freely going in or out

This wall of enforced concrete, barbed wire, landmines and armed guards would become known as the infamous Berlin Wall.
Inhabitants of East Europe became captives of their own country. Safe from the evils of capitalism, but victim to the oppression of what felt eerily close to dictatorship.

This day in history East Europe and West Europe were finally able to connect again after decades of political separation.
Thanks to a miscommunication in bureaucracy and media, the people started flooding the Wall and made it fall, literally and figuratively.
This event contributed amongst many other factors to the end(?) of the chilling Cold War two years later.
