Cat Health Month

  • Felines

๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿฉบโš•๏ธ

Cats seem to have a talent for hiding their health issues.
That’s why regular vet visits, proper nutrition and being alert about their wellness is so import to ensure that our feline overlords live long and prosper under our care.

Debunking Meow-sconceptions

The belief that cats have nine lives is a fabulous fable, but it is not based in fact.
Even if some cats themselves seem to believe this, no proof has been given that any cat ever lived even beyond the one life.
This myth is spread by young over confident cats who consider the number 9 to symbolize infinity because it’s the number that goes beyond the digits they can count on their two front paws. Poly-dactyl cats, who do have 5 or more toes on their front paws and thus are more mathimathically gifted, agree that this number is pure bunk.

The notion that cats are self-sufficient creatures who require minimal care is an all too common misconception.
Cats may not always admit it, but deep down, they crave our affection and guidance, just like any other furry companion.

Another catnip-induced myth is the belief that cats always land on their feet.
While cats do possess an impressive acrobatic ability to twist and turn mid-air, it doesn’t mean they’re immune to accidents or falls.
Keeping cats on balconies or other high-level housing without proper safety measures is irresponsible.

Be a Good Emotional Support Human

The dreaded trip to the vet is a terrifying journey that can strike fear into the bravest of feline hearts…
There are ways to emotionally and physically support your feline friend during this necessary but often anxiety-inducing expedition.

The first step is to approach the situation calmly. Cats are highly perceptive and they take cues from us.
Offer comforting words, gentle caresses and perhaps even a pinch of catnip for moral support.

Be sure to provide a secure carrier, one that’s comfortable and spacious enough.
Line it with a familiar blanket and their favorite toy to make it feel more like home.

Bribery works.
Treats, toys and comforting words can go a long way making a vet visit into a slightly less traumatic adventure.

The Origin of Cat Health Month

The origin story of Cat Health Month remains a magical mystery so far.
We do know that Cat Health Month was at first known as National Cat Health Month but with the magic of the interwebz it quickly transcended borders becoming a worldwide event.
