420

When:
🗓️ April 20, 04:20 in your local time

Where:
🌐 Everywhere

Since:
Probably 1971❓

On 420, we honor the brave souls who fought for the legalization of marijuana, and the even braver souls who are now fighting to remember where they left their phone.
Happy 420 to all the medical cannabis patients out there, who rely on this plant to manage their pain and illness.
The day where everyone can come together, pass the dutchie on the left-hand side, and forget about their problems for a little while.
The only day of the year where it’s acceptable to put ‘professional joint roller’ on your resume.
It’s the perfect day to weed out the negativity and focus on what really matters.
The day when we can all gather together and marvel at the fact that we still haven’t run out of weed puns.

Created by Steve Capper, Dave Reddix, Jeffrey Noel, Larry Schwartz, and Mark Gravich, also known as “the Waldo’s”.
As students at San Rafael High School, 04:20 PM was the time they met to smoke their favorite herb at the Louis Pasteur statue. Therefore the phrase was initially “4:20 Louis” but was later shortened to “4:20”.
One of the Waldo’s, Dave Reddix, later became a roadie for the famous band “the Grateful Dead”. The band liked the phrase and helped to popularize the idea to smoke “special cigarettes” at 4:20 into a pre-internet meme.
