International Day of Acceptance: Celebrating Disability and Embracing Diversity
International Day of Acceptance is a time to honor those who live with disabilities and to promote social acceptance for all.
The purpose of this day is to bring attention to the importance of embracing diversity and creating a world where everyone is accepted, regardless of their abilities.

International Day of Acceptance was created by Stevie Hopkins in 2010, in memory of his sister Annie Hopkins.
Annie was a tireless advocate for people with disabilities and spent her life creating a world where everyone is accepted and valued.
Her creation of the International Symbol of Acceptance represents the idea that every person is unique, and deserving of respect and dignity.

So, how can we celebrate International Day of Acceptance?

  1. Support a local organization that promotes acceptance of disability.
This can include schools, charities, and community groups that work to create a more inclusive world.
  2. Learn more about disability and the challenges faced by people with disabilities.
Read books, watch documentaries, or attend a workshop or lecture on the subject.
  3. Start a conversation about acceptance and diversity with friends, family, and colleagues.
Share your own experiences, and encourage others to do the same.
  4. Wear the International Symbol of Acceptance to show your support for people with disabilities.
This can be a pin, a t-shirt, or even a temporary tattoo.
  5. Donate to a disability charity that supports people with disabilities and their families.

International Day of Acceptance is a day to celebrate diversity, embrace disability, and create a more inclusive world.
Let’s come together on January 20th and show our support for people with disabilities and for a world where everyone is accepted, no matter what.
