Have you ever looked down at your feet and felt a sense of dullness and monotony?
Have you ever felt like your socks were just not giving you the pattern and pizzazz you crave in life?
Well, fear not my friends, because January 8th is Argyle Day, a holiday all about celebrating the classic diamond-patterned fabric known as argyle.

Created by Keely McAleer in 2008, Argyle Day is a day to pay homage to the beloved pattern that has graced socks, sweaters, and even golf pants for decades.
But why should we celebrate this iconic pattern, you ask? It’s just a bunch of little diamonds on a sock?
Well, for starters, argyle has a rich history dating back to the 17th century in Scotland, where it was originally worn by the Clan Campbell.
The diamond pattern was later adopted by the Duke of Argyll in the early 20th century, cementing its place in fashion history.
From then on, the pattern has been a staple in preppy and collegiate fashion, as well as in sports and golf culture.

Argyle Day was created in 2008 by Keely McAleer, who was fed up with the monotony of everyday socks and wanted to pay homage to the unique and playful design of argyle.
Argyle is a symbol of individuality, a statement of style, a bold declaration that you’re not just another basic, solid-colored sock wearer.
It’s a way to show the world that you’re not afraid to take risks, to stand out, to be a little bit quirky!

So how do we celebrate this funky fabric?

  • Break out our favorite argyle socks, sweater, or even pants and rock them with pride!
Feeling bold? Try pairing argyle socks with your favorite suit or dress for a look that will have your coworkers doing a double-take.
  • Share pictures of your argyle outfits on social media, or even better, gift a friend or family member an argyle item they can enjoy.
Because let’s be real, who doesn’t love a good pair of diamond-patterned socks?
  • Get creative with crafting. You can make your own argyle patterned socks, scarfs, or even a cozy argyle blanket.
  • Why not get creative and bake an argyle-patterned cake or cookies?
Cookies are always festive in any shape!

Don’t be a square and shy away from showing off your love for argyle.
Get your pattern on and celebrate Argyle Day in style.
And remember, when it comes to argyle, there’s no such thing as too much pattern-play.
“Sock” it to ’em!
