Bubble Gum Day, a holiday that’s hip
Started by Ruth Spiro, a mom with a tip
Her kids hated fundraisers, selling stuff to all
So she came up with a plan, a gum-chewing ball!

Since 2006, it’s become quite the craze,
Celebrated in schools, libraries, and on base,
Even seniors get in on the bubblegum fun,
As they raise funds for good deeds to be done.

Heifer International gets animals sponsored,
And Reading is Fundamental gets books ordered,
Even snacks to troops stationed overseas,
Thanks to Bubble Gum Day, and its big squeeze!

TV, radio, and magazines have all covered,
The fun and the funds that have been discovered,
And filmmakers even made a documentary too,
About gum and the good that it can do.

On the first Friday of February, each year
Kids chew bubble gum without any fear
It’s a fun way to give, without selling a thing
And it’s caught on like wildfire, with everyone joining

So grab some pink gum, and chew with delight
Raise some funds, for a cause that’s right
Now before you go and chew all day
Don’t swallow the gum, but throw it away (In a trash can , of course!)

If anyone asks why you celebrate with gum
Just say Wild Calendar gave you the thumb
Happy Bubble Gum Day, let’s chew and play
Until the bubbles burst and float away!
