🥂 A long time ago
Friday the 13th is just a day like any other… unless you’re a horror movie character. 🤞
It’s the 21st century and many people are still terrified of Friday the 13th.
But why?
After all, 13 is just a number in a month and Friday is just a day of the week…
Right?
Why Friday? Why 13?
The tale trying to explain the origin of Friday the 13th range from the Last Supper, where 13 people sat at the table, to a Friday where the Knights Templar were arrested en masse by the King of France.
There is also the tale of another dinner party on a Friday where one of the guests was the devil himself. As the night went on, one by one, each of the guests fell prey to misfortune and the party ended in disaster.
The number 13 has been associated with bad luck in many legends and myths.
There are 13 moons in a year, there were 13 people at the Last Supper, with some even going as far as to say that it’s the number of witches in a coven.
Fridays have also long been associated with executions and crucifixions as a way to end the last workday of the week.
Makes you wonder…
How To Celebrate Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th can be a pretty fun day. Superstitions are just that, superstitions.
Use your common sense, make sure to avoid unstable ladders and carry a horse shoe to ward off people who mean you harm.
If you see a black cat today, try to befriend it because it brings good luck.
Good luck for the cat because black cats face a lot of silly superstition.
See how many four-leaf clovers you can find.
Don’t pick them but share their pictures them online with the hashtags #Friday13 or #FridayThe13th or #FourLeafClover
Attempt to walk 13 steps backwards at exactly 13:13
Spill a pinch of salt.
If that summons a devil, like the superstition warns us, just blame it on Wild Calendar and throw the horse shoe if needed.
🤞
No need to lock yourself indoors or cancel all your plans. Unless you want to.
Maybe the most unlucky thing about superstition is believing in superstition!
But it doesn’t hurt to keep a little extra good luck charm close by.
Happy Friday the 13th!
