It’s a beautiful day for a non-official holiday. And today, we’re celebrating Hug a Short Person Day!
Hug a Short Person Day is a day to show love and appreciation for individuals of shorter stature.
Whether you’re tall or short yourself, today is all about embracing differences and spreading positivity.

Now, before we get started, I want to remind you all that it’s important to celebrate this day in a way that’s respectful to all our friends, no matter what their height may be.
Because every person is excellent, just the way they are!

Now, the origin of Hug a Short Person Day is a bit of a mystery.
Some say it was created by a group of mischievous rascals who thought it would be funny to see people hugging each other based on height.
But others say it was created by a group of short individuals who wanted to spread awareness about the unique challenges they face. They wanted to promote inclusiveness and show that size doesn’t define a person’s worth.

Being short certainly has its challenges, from having to stand on your tiptoes to reach the top shelf, to not being seen in large crowds.
However, there are also many advantages to being short. For example, short individuals often have a lower center of gravity, making them great at sports like gymnastics and parkour. They also use less energy and resources, making them more eco-friendly.

So, how can we celebrate Hug a Short Person Day in a way that’s respectful and fun for everyone?

One of the best ways is to simply give a consensual hug to someone who is shorter than you.

Have a picnic on a blanket. When sitting down our height differences are not that different anymore.
If you are of average or above average height, look at the world and try to see what could be a challenge for someone smaller than you while it is easy for you. And maybe try to change that.
For instance, move objects that are placed way up high to a lower position. Good things should be in reach for everybody!

The most important thing is to celebrate differences and spread positivity and to show love and kindness to all our friends, no matter if they’re small as a mouse or tall like a giraffe.
So, give someone a hug today, and let’s show the world that size doesn’t define a person’s worth.
