This holiday has two dates for two different reasons:
September 26 is said to be the birthday of the legendary Johnny Appleseed.
March 11 is a nice date to plant apple trees in the Northern Hemisphere.
And because apples are delicious and both dates are celebrated widely, both dates are declared valid.
🍎

Johnny Appleseed was born as John Chapman on September 26, 1774.
He learned a lot about tending trees growing up,  but his real passion turned out to be to take on the apple tree challenge.
As soon as he made one nursery of little apple trees, he moved on to make new ones and this is where he stepped from ordinary person into a person of legend.
He was said to travel around far and wide preferring to walk bare footed accompanied by all the animal friends he made on his way.

He also made friends with native Americans who saw his lifestyle of frugality and respect for life as a sign that he was deeply spiritual.Johnny Appleseed passed away on March 18, 1845.
But legend says this is just a mix up, and he still roams around spreading apple seeds where ever there is place for apple trees and helping animals in need.
