Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Just what the world needs: another excuse to pat the people in blue on the back for a job well done.
Law enforcement is a mixed blessing, depending on the authority that they work for. Do they serve the needs of the many or merely the needs of the few….or the one?
With power comes responsibility.

So, how exactly do we celebrate this hallowed holiday?
Well, the traditional route would be to thank a police officer, maybe even buy them a doughnut (because clearly, they haven’t had enough sugar in their diet already).
But why stop there? Let’s really show our appreciation by giving them a permanent pay raise, better working conditions, and more resources to do their job effectively.
Or, you know, just a pat on the back and a “good job” will suffice.

But let’s not limit ourselves to the standard celebrations.
How about, instead of buying a cop a doughnut, we donate to organizations that provide legal representation for those who have been wrongfully arrested or mistreated by law enforcement?
Or instead of just thanking a cop, we work towards systemic change to address issues of police brutality and racial profiling?

So, in conclusion, let’s all raise a glass of “just-us” juice and toast to Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
It’s a day to celebrate the thin blue line, as they keep us safe from… well, mostly ourselves.
And let’s not forget, it’s always a good day to “cop” a feel of appreciation.
Happy Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, folks!

Movie suggestion for today is the classic “Hot Fuzz”.
