Perthes is a disease where the blood supply to the thigh bone is disrupted leading to bone cells dying, which leads to hip problems.
Surgery is usually needed to make walking easier and less painful.
The original event Paddle for Perthes Disease Awareness Day was posted via Twitter and Facebook from 2010 to 2013.
However the event was still remembered despite no events being organized.
So the last Saturday in July still raises awareness for Perthes Disease even if we don’t paddle.
