The Hue of Happiness
Pink embodies joy, warmth and playfulness and also has the power to soothe and calm.
Pink is quite easy to match with a wide range of colors. This makes it a good color for both fashion and interior design.
Pink is a bold color that embodies individuality and self-expression. It once used to be considered a very manly color for this reason.
Pink Day is not to be confused with International Day of Pink which is celebrated on the second Wednesday in April.
While International Day of Pink raises awareness about bullying, Pink Day just celebrates pink as the color itself.
But if you want raise awareness and make a stand against bullying anyway, please feel free to do so.
Pink is a happy color, so promoting happiness and chasing away the blue meanies is highly encouraged!

What Defines Pink?
Pink is a charming color. But what exactly defines pink to be considered a color of its own instead of simply light red?
On the color spectrum, pink is a lighter shade of red. But the color became so popular that it got its own name and now we say pink instead of light-red. It’s really not more complicated. Humans really like pink that much. Even if it’s not your favorite color, it still stands out for the human perception enough to make it speak to our inner ehm….something?
Pink is named after a flower, which is called, youโll never guess it, pink!
Though this flower is mostly referred to as the common pink, wild pink or garden pink to distinguish the plant from other members of the pink family like the mountain pink, sand pink, etc.
There are definitely more than 50 shades of pink and that’s official!
But wait, does magenta count as pink too?ย
Well, this is not quite as simple to answer.
On the color spectrum, magenta is right in between red and purple.
This becomes apparent when we see a magenta object and perceive it as pink but in just the right kinds of light we do see something blueish reflecting.
Somehow our brains have just enough trouble perceiving magenta that our brains try to match the perception with something that we know and comes close.
To make it even more confusing, light colors are not the same as printing colors or painting colors.
Remember trying to mix purple with red and blue dye, but all you got was some gross brown color?
To make purple with dye you need magenta dye to mix with blue dye. While the regular red dye is magenta mixed with yellow.
If you think this is confusing, then know that your monitor and ambient led-lights mix their colors with red, green and blue!
This confusion is created by the fact that seeing colors is all done somewhere between your eyes and brains.
Colors arenโt real but are nothing more than a matter of interpretation in your mind!
TL:DR:
Pink is pretty, itโs red or almost red.
And you only need to know the exact definition of pink when youโre into professional printing or when you really care a lot about your shirt being magenta with ivory dots or fuchsia with eggshell dots.
The Origins of Pink Day
The origins of this whimsical celebration are veiled in the magically mysterious pink fogs of time.
According to legends, Pink Day was created by a shady corporation known as “Big Glam” to increase its sales, because what better way to promote pink stuff than by inventing a holiday, right?
Or maybe it was just really only made for fun because someone could.
So far, we don’t know.
