Today is the day to bring out your inner child and jump into those puddles 💦

On January 11th, we ditch the umbrellas and approach the puddles with open arms and a leap of faith!
Does this sound a little mean?
Not if you organize this celebration with only enthusiastically consenting friends!
This also creates the best and wildest splashings if you jump in perfect unison.

The origin of Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day is said to have started on a beautiful day after a night of refreshing rain, when a group of friends were strolling through a park, enjoying the sunshine.
One of them stepped in a puddle, splashing their friends and the joyous laughter and memories that followed inspired them to make it an annual celebration.

So, what are some unconventional ways to celebrate this holiday?

  • Have a splashin’ good time by hosting a water balloon fight.
  • Create a splash mob, where a group of people suddenly converge on a puddle and splash each other simultaneously.
  • Have a puddle jumping contest to see who can jump the farthest.
  • Make it a challenge by organizing a “splash-erizing” obstacle course complete with puddles, slip ‘n’ slides, and bucket dumps.

Note that the key to a successful Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day is to make sure everyone is having fun and giving their consent to get splashed.
And, as always, be sure to dry off and change into something warm and cozy after the fun is over.

Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day is not just about getting wet, it’s about getting wild, getting silly, and reminding ourselves to have fun.
So grab your rain boots and head on out to the nearest puddle.
Happy splashing!
