Three Kings Day, also known as Epiphany, is a Christian holiday that wraps up Christmas for this season in a festive way.
Every year on January 6, people around the world honor the Three Kings, also known as the Three Wise Men or Magi, and their journey to Bethlehem to meet a child they believed to be destined to make a great change in the world.
The story of the Three Kings is based on scripture from the New Testament part of the Christian Bible.
It tells of three magi, or wise men, who traveled from the East to Bethlehem to bring gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the infant Jesus.
It is unknown how Mary and Joseph reacted to this unexpected visit.

In many countries, Three Kings Day is celebrated with family meals and plenty of sweets.
A common part of the meal is a traditional pastry that has something hidden in it. This can vary from a simple uncooked bean, a coin, a figurine or something else.
Whoever finds the figurine in their piece of pastry is crowned king or queen for the day. In Mexico, the day is celebrated with a parade featuring the Three Kings.
Other customs varying per country are Epiphany singing, chalking the door, having one’s house blessed and winter swimming.
It is also customary to take down Christmas decorations on Epiphany Eve (Twelfth Night).
