It’s time to stitch together our love for quilting and support our local quilt shops! January 22nd is Local Quilt Shop Day, a day to celebrate all things patchwork, piecing and, of course, puns!
Every fourth Saturday of January, the world comes together to celebrate the art of quilting and to show love to the local quilt shops that make it all possible.
But, before we dive into the festivities, let’s take a look at what quilting is all about.

Quilting has a rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages when people would use scraps of fabric to create warm and cozy blankets, clothing, and even wall art..
Fast forward to the present, and quilting has become an art form, showcasing the skills of those who have mastered the needle and thread. To make a good quilt, you need to have patience, a steady hand, and a keen eye for color coordination.

According to the Fabric Shop Network, Local Quilt Shop Day was created to raise awareness of the importance of independent quilt shops to the local economy.
But, let’s be real, we all know it was created so we can have an excuse to indulge in the love for fabric, quilts, and all things cozy.
