Barking Up the Right Tree

Work Like a Dog Day pays homage to our tireless, furry friends with a serious work ethic who’ve been our partners in crime (sometimes literally) who have been tirelessly helping us humans since, well, forever.
This day is a reminder of the invaluable roles dogs play along with humans.

They’re Fur-Real About Their Work

Dogs have been working with humans for as long as we can remember.
From herding sheep to guiding the visually impaired, these furry friends have proven that there’s a lot of work that humans can’t do as well as other animals can.
Service dogs provide assistance to people with disabilities. From guiding the blind to alerting diabetic owners of blood sugar changes, service dogs make a world of difference in their humans’ lifes.
Search and rescue dogs sniff out survivors in disaster zones, navigating rubble that would leave us mere mortals in the dust.
Therapy dogs offer comfort and companionship to the elderly, sick and stressed.
Then there are police dogs, the K9 units, who are trained to apprehend suspects and find evidence.
And let’s not forget the herders, the bomb detectors, the guide dogs and even those internet-famous dogs with cushy desk jobs.
It’s safe to say that human civilization would probably not be the same without the help of dogs.

Paws for Applause

Work Like a Dog Day is the perfect excuse to channel your inner canine and put in a bit of extra effort.
Take a moment today to appreciate not just the amazing dogs with jobs, but also the people who work tirelessly alongside them and all the hard-working folks around you.
Remember, even a small gesture can make a big difference.
Gather your friends, both two-legged and four-legged and celebrate with games, treats and plenty of belly rubs.
Set up an obstacle course to showcase your dog’s agility skills or host a mini talent show where the only rule is to have fun.
And if anyone gives you the side-eye for throwing a puppy party, just tell them Wild Calendar gave you permission and invite them to join the fun!

Work Hard, Wag More

Show some extra love to our hardworking canine companions and their human counterparts. They’re not just our best friend, but also our best helper! They’re more than just fetching!
