Benjamin Banneker, born in November 9 1731, was born from a free African American woman and a former slave. Despite receiving little education, Benjamin had a ravenous thirst for knowledge. Benjamin became his own teacher and sought out ALL he knowledge he could find! This endless curiosity to understand how things work led him to not only become a good farmer, but he also was known for his vast knowledge of natural history.Benjamin Banneker was a skilled surveyor and wrote a series of “Banneker almanacs” which still known and respected today for their usefulness. |
